Living Well adult day care center provides a cost-effective alternative to a nursing home, which runs an average of $198 a day for a semi-private room, or to a home-health aide, at $21 an hour. Living Well Center starts at just $60 per day for a full eight hour day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and that cost also includes breakfast, a substantial snack and a hot lunch, activities, outings and nursing care. The Living Well Center is open six days per week, from Monday through Saturday, and our guests may attend from 2 to 6 days per week. Door-to-door transportation to the Living Well Center is available at an additional cost.
Nursing Home Alternative
Adult day care provides the added financial (and emotional) benefit of keeping its guests in their own homes, and delays the need to enter nursing homes and assisted living facilities for longer.
One of our center’s regular guests, George, had lived with his wife in an apartment, but he was a diabetic and due to several falls, had been in and out of rehab facilities. His wife who was his primary caregiver had become overwhelmed and was paralyzed by the fear that the next big fall would mean a nursing home for George. It was then that she found our center.
George was discharged from his rehab center on a Wednesday and started coming to our center by Friday. He attended adult day care five days a week where we helped him shower and shave, monitored his diabetes medication, and had his lab work done. George even had his podiatrist appointments at the center. With the staff looking after George, he thrived at adult day care and his wife had so much of the burden of his care lifted off her shoulders, that she could enjoy her time with him when he was home. Adult day care delayed George's having to go to a nursing home for over two years.

Full financial aid may be available through MassHealth, select Elder Care Agencies or the Veteran's Administration. For those with long term care insurance, adult day care is a cost efficient way to maximize plan benefits. Private payment is also accepted.
