Living Well Adult Day Care Medical Services
Living Well adult day care center is considered a day health center which means that we offer health supervision and nursing care for our elderly guests and other adults needing short term medical services, like physical therapy and rehabilitation services. Often, through the medical, therapeutic and social services offered at our center, our guests can delay the need for full time nursing home care or hospitalization.
Since the Living Well adult day care medical staff sees our guests on a consistent basis we are able to quickly recognize any phyical or mental changes, however subtle, and recommend an appropriate course of action. This is an added benefit to being a health day center and to having direct communication with our guests' primary care physicians. We administer individual medical services based on physician’s orders. Each guest has a written plan designed to promote both physical and mental health.
Medical Care
At Living Well adult day care center there is always a full-time registered nurse (RN) and a licensed practical nurse (LPN) on duty. Our nursing staff provides routine medical monitoring, such as blood pressure, vital signs, blood sugar levels, and wound care, along with medication management and dispensing medications, including injections. A podiatrist visits the center once a month to provide services for any guests who need it.
Rehabilitation Services
Living Well adult day care provides access to therapeutic and social services for our guests and can arrange for physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and rehabilitation therapy. We schedule these appointments during center hours and offer a private room for these services.
Dementia & Alzheimers Care
In addition to nursing care, Living Well adult day care offers specialized care for those with memory impairments. Our staff is specifically trained to work with varying degrees of dementia. According to a study conducted by Penn State, people with dementia that attend adult day care sleep better at night, which has a measured affect on their cognitive ability and on their caregivers ability to cope. We have designed special activities for the memory impaired that incorporate music, exercise and the use of fine motor skills. Wherever possible, we incorporate trivia and current events in our activities. See our Alzheimers Program Schedule for more information.
Special Needs
The Living Well adult day care center medical staff has experience with a wide variety of special needs including those guests with physical handicaps, are hearing or visually impaired, are speech impaired, or are mentally impaired. We provide incontinence care and assistance with other personal care needs and grooming.

My mother-in-law's overall well being has greatly improved since she began going to daycare. The nurses stay on top of her medications and blood work and I go to work knowing she is happy and safe and well cared for

I just brought my Mom back from an appointment with her doctor and he was very pleased and decided to lower her diabetes medication.
I told him it was due to the great nurses at Living Well that monitor her medication, check her blood sugars and make sure she is eating right! Overall, she is feeling so much better. Thank you so much!

Thanks for your comprehensive and informative note on Mrs. R. It has been quite a challenge to get her to comply with her medical treatment. You are doing a great job!
